Can Certain Yoga Poses Aggravate Tennis Elbow?
Is it a good idea to continue practicing Yoga while you’re recovering from Tennis Elbow? Every case is different but, in general, it would probably be beneficial to continue.
Are there any poses that could exacerbate or even cause Tennis Elbow if done incorrectly? Yes…
Be careful not to Hyperextend your elbows when performing the following upper-body, weight-bearing Yoga poses – IF you have a degree of Ligament Laxity and tend to be Hypermobile:
- Downward Dog Pose
- Reverse Plank Position
- Cobra Pose
- Camel ‘Ustrasna’
- Side Plank
- Wheel Pose
(The elbows of the woman in Cobra Pose in the image to the Right are Hyperextended. See the slideshow above for more examples.)
